The Semillas history is as unique as its products. In 2001 the company was founded under the name Semillas La Palma on Canary Islands. Today it’s already managed by the second generation of the family in a very special way.

The production site of the business is now based on Lanzarote, one of the oldest islands of the archipelago which geologically belong to Africa. On the volcanic island, which was built around 15.5 million years ago, the Semillas team cultivates peppers and tomatoes with the help of old lava rocks.

The substrate used in the Semillas green houses is a mix of soil, peat and lava ash. This makes Semillas products absolutely unique.

The climate on Canary Islands is known as eternal spring. Under ideal growing conditions with an average of eight hours of sunlight per day, Semillas can cultivate regardsless of seasons and with very low energy consumption.

In order to guarantee high quality, Semillas doesn’t automate any of its production processes. In the company-owned greenhouses the employees water all plants manually, which allows them to care for each plant individually. Later on, hot pepper and tomato seeds are processed, selected and packaged by the team in sophisticated steps.
