San Marzano Tomato Seeds

The San Marzano variety is truly something special, as it ranks among the most internationally famous traditional Italian tomatoes. Its elongated, deep red fruits are known for their rich, sweet-fruity flavor, firm and dense flesh, and very few seeds—making them the ideal tomato for sauces, paste, and preserving.

It was originally cultivated in San Marzano sul Sarno in sunny Campania, Italy, where the volcanic soils at the foot of Mount Vesuvius are exceptionally fertile and give the tomatoes their distinctive taste.

This variety is a classic heirloom tomato. The plants grow indeterminately, developing long vines and reaching impressive heights depending on the growing conditions, while producing abundant harvests of their characteristic plum-shaped fruits over a long season.

San Marzano tomatoes are traditionally used for thick, aromatic tomato sauces, soups, and tomato paste, and are a true staple of Mediterranean cuisine worldwide.

In Italy, only tomatoes grown in the officially defined region are allowed to carry the protected DOP seal (“Pomodoro San Marzano dell’Agro Sarnese-Nocerino”), underscoring their authenticity and premium quality.
